President, Skyline Apartment
Matthew is responsible for the operational and financial performance of Skyline Apartment REIT’s real estate portfolio, including overseeing acquisitions/dispositions, financial budgets, and implementing and monitoring capital expenditure projects.
Matthew came to Skyline from Hertz Equipment, one of the world's largest equipment rental companies. He started in its Cambridge branch office as a Sales Representative and quickly worked his way up to a management position. In his vital role as Branch Manager, Matthew was responsible for the operational and financial outcome of Hertz’s Toronto Branch, which represented its largest Canadian fleet--an over $20 million operation. Matthew’s management experience, results-oriented and hands-on approach at Hertz has transferred over very well to his role at Skyline.
Matthew’s proprietary operational processes and unique philosophies have helped drive the profitability and successful performance of the properties in the REIT. From managing vacancies across such a sizeable portfolio, to overseeing a team of hundreds of property managers and resident managers in the field across Canada, Matthew is resourceful and wears many hats. His focus on environmental efficiencies and innovation has also been critical in making Skyline apartments accommodations of choice for tenants, and in making Skyline one of the largest owners and managers of multi-residential property in Canada.
As a key member of the management team of one of the fastest growing REITs in Canada, Matthew will continue to play a critical role in ensuring that Skyline’s property management and tenant acquisition/retention strategies are industry-leading and best-in-class.
